Why can't I do it?

There are two possible reasons that Canvas is not recognizing your colleague's BTC email address.

They have a different email address saved in their Canvas account settings.
Their Canvas account has not been activated because they are either a new instructor or have never taught a BTC course before (non-faculty).

How do I fix it?

Issue #1: default email

Three possible solutions:

Enter the email address that is linked to their Canvas account (if you have that information).

Select the "add user(s) by 'Login ID'" option and enter their EMPL ID number (if available to you).

Contact eLearning with the following info and we will add your colleague to your course for you.
- Colleague's name
- Role in the course
- Course item number

Issue #2: no Canvas account

If your colleague does not have a BTC Canvas account, they will need to contact eLearning to set up a Canvas orientation session. Once their account is created, you will be able to add them to your course with their BTC email address.
