Can I do it?

Yes! As you finish your final preparations for the first day of the quarter it is a good idea to take a minute to check out your course from a student’s perspective. Are all your course due dates current? Are all your links active and current? Is all your content published (that should be)?

This tip aligns with section 4 of the BTC Course Design Tool. Specifically, the following tips can help you make sure that your course contains “functional content (e.g. hyperlinks, files, videos, external URLs, course navigation menu items, etc.)”.

Check Your Dates!

The Canvas Edit Assignment Dates feature allows you to view all course assignments and edit the due dates from one page, so you can easily update all assignments to the Fall quarter due dates.

Check Your Links!

The Canvas Course Link Validator checks your course for invalid or unreachable links and images. Checking your links is especially important if you are importing course content from previous quarters!

Check Student View!

Canvas has a Test Student feature that allows you to view your course as a student! This is a great way to see how students will experience your course when taking a quiz, submitting an assignment, viewing modules, accessing content, and more.

Publish Your Content!

Once you have checked your course, don’t forget to publish your course and all content that you want your students to have access to on the first day of the quarter!
