What is it?

The Ally Accessibility Tool allows Canvas users (students & teachers) to download Alternative Formats of content directly from Canvas courses! This tool can both address the accessibility needs of specific students and provide multiple ways to access course materials for all Canvas users.

This tip aligns with section 4 of the BTC Course Design Tool. Specifically, this feature helps to provide students with material in “a variety of mediums and formats (Universal Design for learning - UDL)” and “accessible material and technology with equivalent alternatives, as appropriate.”

How do I use it?

Click Alternative formats (next to the file name).
Select the desired format from the Download alternative formats pop-up window.
Click the Download button.
The alternative format file will be saved in the Downloads folder of your device.

Ally provides access to the following alternative formats:

Electronic braille
Audio
BeeLine Reader
Immersive Reader
Translated versions
