Can I do it?

Yes! You can set the SpeedGrader to arrange the student list in a random order for grading. This feature can help mitigate grading fatigue and bias by mixing up the student grading order each time you grade an assignment in the course.

This tip aligns with section 1 of the BTC Course Design Tool. Specifically, randomizing student submissions can help prevent grading fatigue and biases for a more “equitable, diverse, inclusive, and accessible learning space.”

How do I do it?

Open an assignment in SpeedGrader.
Click Settings (gear icon) and select Options from the drop-down menu.
Select Randomize Students for the Sort student list drop-down menu.
Click the Save Settings button.
- Note: Settings will be saved for the course on the current browser and will need to be selected again when accessing the SpeedGrader from a different device.

Bonus Tip: Use this setting in conjunction with Anonymous Grading to mitigate grading bias even further.
