Can I do it?

Yes! By default, Panopto videos are associated with the course in which they were recorded. If you are not able to track down where the original recording lives, you can access the Edit, Share, and Settings features by opening the video in the Panopto Viewer.

This tip aligns with sections 4 & 5 of the BTC Course Design Tool. Specifically, the feature helps to provide “accessible material and technology with equivalent alternatives, as appropriate” and ”functional content (e.g. hyperlinks, files, videos, external URLs, course navigation menu items, etc.)”.

How do I do it?

Open the video in the Panopto Viewer.
- For linked videos: Click the link to open in a new tab.
- For embedded videos: Click the Watch in Panopto icon (diagonal arrow, next to CC icon).
Click the Settings button (gear icon).
In the Settings Overview, view (or edit) the video location under Session Information in the Folder field.
Select Share from the Settings menu to update the Share Settings.

Keep in mind...

If you are embedding or linking a Panopto video that "lives" in another course, you may need to adjust the video's Share Settings to allow access for students in your class.
