What is the problem?

Issues with caption syncing is common for Panopto videos that have been edited. This is because when you "cut" clips in the Panopto editor, the clip still exists in the video stream but is hidden during playback. This will cause the captions to be out of sync from the point of the "cut" through the rest of the video. Don't worry! This issue can be fixed (or avoided) by checking a box when uploading the transcript.

How do I fix it?

Remove Faulty Captions

Open the Panopto recording session with the faulty captions.
Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon).
Select "Captions" from the edit navigation menu.
Click "Import Captions" and select "Upload or request captions" from the drop-down menu.
Under "Available Captions", click "Default".
Click "Delete Captions" and click "OK".

Retrieve Transcript from Caption Hub

Open "Caption Hub" from your Courses list and click the Caption Hub image to access the Captions Request Form.
Select the "Finished" tab and locate the video's caption request.
Click the "Captions..." button.
Select "SRT (default)" from the the drop-down menu to download the transcript.

Upload Transcript to Panopto Video

Open the Panopto recording session you want to caption.
Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon).
Select "Captions" from the edit navigation menu.
Click "Import Captions" and select "Upload or request captions" from the drop-down menu.
Click the "Choose File" button to locate the caption file on your computer.
Check the "Captions are based on the edited session" box.
Click the "Upload Captions" button.
