Can I do it?

Yes! Instructional videos that are from 2-60 minutes long may be submitted to the Caption Hub to request captioning. Recordings are routed from the Caption Hub to 3Play Media, a professional captioning service, to be captioned.

How do I do it?

Submit Your Video to Caption Hub

Contact eLearning to get access to the Caption Hub.
Open the "Share" settings for the Panopto recording session you want captioned.
Make sure that the "Who can access this video" setting is "Anyone who has the link".
- To change the setting, click "Change" and select "Public (unlisted) Anyone who has the link" from the pop-up menu.
Copy the Panopto video link.
- Select the "Link" icon, then click the "Copy Link" button.
Open "Caption Hub" from your Courses list and click the Caption Hub image to access the Captions Request Form.
Click the "Create New Request" button.
Paste the Panopto video URL in the "Source video" field and click the "Load" button.
Check the boxes and select the responses applicable to your video.

Click the "Create Request" button.

Upload Captions to Your Video

You will receive an email notification from SBCTC when your captions are ready.
- Click on the "direct link to your captioning request" to access the Captions Request Form.
Click on the "Finished" tab.
Click the "Upload to Panopto" button.
- (Optional) download a transcript of the video by clicking the "Captions..." button.
Wait for the "Upload complete" message, then check the box next to "finished" to archive the request.
Open your Panopto video and confirm that the captions have been uploaded.

Captioning Edited Videos

If you have made edits ("cuts") to your Panopto video, you will need to download the transcript of the video and follow the instructions for Captioning Edited Videos.
